Case Study: Designing A Decoupage Catalogue For John Derian Company, NYC

Challenge
Design a simple and organized catalogue that highlights all the decoupage items—which are made by hand—and sold in their retail stores located in New York City.

Solution
Finding the right creative to design these catalogues for this unique decoupage shop; was based on the experience IntreXDesign had with magazine layout and design.

Starting with photos supplied by the John Derian Company, all the decoupage items were listed and categorizing for a 36-page promotional catalogue. Each section of the catalogue referenced a theme and the photos were placed within the sections that best represent the artwork. The layout was a simple, clean, and elegant design highlighting the photos that would attract potential buyers.

Two different catalogues were laid out, printed and distributed. Each catalogue carried a variety of different decoupage items all  laid out under page themes found in the catalogues.

Results
The catalog was printed in hard copy and also posted on the web for easy ordering access. The catalogue was also distributed to vendors who would select pieces to display and sell in their own shops. The John Derian Company was established in 1989 and has grown in size adding three retail shops. All items are made in the East Village location. These catalogues and online ordering system continues to enables growth for this business.
