Case Study: The Literacy Coalition Promotes Their Services
Challenge
The Literacy Coalition of Herkimer and Oneida Counties, is a nonprofit organization located in Upstate New York. The organization’s mission supports reading, writing, problem solving, and speaking English.
Our Process and Creative Approach
Most of The Literacy Coalition’s services are through community outreach, word-of-mouth, and volunteers. However the organization wanted a marketing brochure and bookmark to promote their services among community locations that target their audiences. Both promotional pieces would be distributed at trade shows and book fairs throughout the community.
Solution
Find a way to integrate two different logos on the front of the brochure and bookmark.
Since each logo’s presence required equal attention, both logos had to be similar in size. The goal was to display each aspect of the Literacy’s outreach program respectively, while keeping the logos separate and unified on the front.
IntreXDesign placed the “ezread logo” at the top and created a book graphic that underscored the essence of reading. This drew a closer connection to reading especially when the cover image included two children with a book.
A simple typeface was chosen with white text to emphasize the message and help it stand out. A bright blue background color made the Literacy logo distinct. On the inside of the brochure, additional photos and text underscores the importance of learning to read for children and adults alike.
On the bookmark, the simple design with black text and bright blue and green colors were accents to match the brochure.
Results
The members of the Literacy Coalition were impressed with the quality of the marketing materials and were glad to have materials they could share at local events. The printed pieces offered a reassurance to the Literacy Coalition that furthered their mission and built awareness for all the good work the Literacy Coalition offers their community.
